Fire Triggers Evacuation of Universal Hilton

Nine floors of the Universal Hilton were evacuated tonight after a small fire broke out in an elevator room.

The fire was reported around 10:40 p.m., Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Guests from the 14th to 22nd floors of the hotel were evacuated, Stewart said.

The source of the fire was a burning chair in an elevator room, Stewart said.
