North Hollywood Apartment Attic Catches Fire

Eighty-eight firefighters were dispatched to the building, which experienced some form of small structural collapse.

A North Hollywood apartment building suffered heavy damage today in a fire that started in the attic and burned for less than an hour, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The two-story structure fire was reported at 1:50 p.m. at 11560 Friar St. and was knocked down in 46 minutes, LAFD Spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

Eighty-eight firefighters were dispatched to the building, which experienced some form of small structural collapse, Humphrey said.

No injuries were reported and a cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.

The needs of the apartment building’s residents were being evaluated by the American Red Cross, Humphrey said.
