North Hollywood Man Killed in Collision with Tree
A 20-year-old man died and his passenger remains in critical collision after driving into a tree in Sherman Oaks Tuesday.
A man who was killed when the car he was driving struck a tree in Sherman Oaks was identified today.
Jose Luis Barrera-Tome, 20, of North Hollywood, died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
The crash occurred about 8 p.m. Tuesday at 12935 Chandler Blvd., near Coldwater Canyon Avenue, authorities said.

A woman riding in the car was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
