North Hollywood Man Sentenced For Bludgeoning Parents To Death
Jonathan Mercado, of North Hollywood, pleaded no contest in the bludgeoning deaths of his parents.

VAN NUYS, CA — A North Hollywood man was sentenced Wednesday to 42 years to life in state prison for the beating deaths of his parents.
Jonathan Mercado, 30, pleaded no contest last September to two counts of murder stemming from the Sept. 7, 2012, bludgeoning deaths of his father, Alexandro, and mother, Veronica, at a home in the 8100 block of Radford Avenue where he lived with the victims and his two younger siblings.
His mother's body was wrapped in a sheet and left in a pickup truck that was abandoned in Sun Valley, and his father's body was found wrapped in a sheet in a bedroom in the home.

Mercado was arrested the next day by Los Angeles police and has remained jailed since then without bail.
