P. Diddy Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Son's UCLA Football Coach

Rapper, actor, record producer and entrepreneur Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy, was arrested today at UCLA on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery and making terrorist threats, a university representative said.

The weapon was a kettlebell, a weighted exercise device resembling a cannonball with a handle usually made out of cast iron, according to Phil Hampton of UCLA.

The arrest occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex, Hampton said. No one was seriously injured.

The charges of battery and terrorist threats were added to Combs’ charge sheet later, a UCLA statement said.

Combs was released from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Inmate Reception Center at 10:02 p.m. He is scheduled to appear at the Airport Courthouse on July 13, according to inmate arrest records.

Hampton did not give a reason for the alleged assault.

According to celebrity website TMZ.com, the elder Combs saw a coach riding his son, Justin Combs, a Bruin redshirt junior defensive back. The elder Combs confronted the coach, TMZ said.

“I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation,” UCLA football coach Jim Mora said.

“This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”

Justin Combs has made four tackles in seven games over two seasons.
