From diverting water for urban consumption to altering land through mining and ranching, human industry has impacted the Western landscape in dramatic ways. Meet representatives of three organizations that are working in collaboration with industry, government, and private interests to repair and restore the West. Panelists include Bill McDonald, Malpai Borderlands Group; Stephen Reynolds, California Geological Survey; and remedial environmental artists Dan McCormick and Mary O’Brien, Watershed Sculpture.

In a special pop-up exhibition in the theater lobby, Watershed Sculpture will display elements from the recent project Bay Clay Oyster Reef. As part of an oyster reintroduction project, Daniel and Mary created reef sculpture from Gold Rush silt in the San Francisco Bay as an alternative to current concrete reefs.

Presented in association with Kim Stringfellow’s Jackrabbit Homestead.
