Apartment Building on Fire in North Hollywood

Fifty-one firefighters responded and knocked down the flames in 15 minutes.

A non-injury fire damaged one unit in a North Hollywood apartment building today, displacing a family.

The fire was reported at 6:54 p.m. at 6502 Vineland Ave., between Kittridge Street and Victory Boulevard, said Cody Weireter of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Fifty-one firefighters responded and knocked down the flames in 15 minutes, confining the damage to a single third-floor unit, Weireter said.

The Red Cross was summoned to assist the family in finding temporary shelter, he said.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
