Valley Village Father of 6 Killed in San Bernardino Massacre

A fundraising page has been set up to help the family of a Valley Village man killed in Wednesday's attack.


One of the 14 people killed when a couple opened fire at a San Bernardino treatment center for people with developmental disabilities was identified by family today as a Valley Village man.

Michael Wetzel, who worked as an environmental specialist, was in a meeting at the center when the gunfire broke out, ABC7 reported. He is survived by his wife and their six children, ranging from an infant to teenage.

“They are very overwhelmed,” family spokeswoman Celia Behar told Channel 7. “There are six kids who have lost their father, and Renee is a stay- at-home mom, so they have also lost all their financial support, and the kids are just finding out today ...”

A crowdfunding page to help support the Wetzel family was established on the website www.YouCaring.com. As of midday, more than $48,000 had been raised.
