Woman Killed In North Hollywood Hit-And-Run; Driver Sought

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — Police Sunday sought the driver of a dark red SUV that struck and killed a 71-year-old woman in North Hollywood before fleeing the scene.

The collision occurred about 9:35 p.m. Saturday on Lankershim Boulevard north of Oxnard Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A dark red Ford SUV was southbound on Lankershim when it struck the woman as she was crossing Oxnard outside a crosswalk, police said. The driver continued southbound without stopping, as required by law, according to the LAPD.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Valley Traffic Division detectives urged anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the driver or the vehicle to contact them at 818-644-8033.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available through the city's Hit-and-Run Reward Program for information leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction or civil resolution of the driver.
