Brad Sherman To Speak At Porter Ranch Meeting Wednesday

NORTHRIDGE-CHATSWORTH, CA — Don't miss your chance to address Congressman Brad Sherman at Wednesday's Porter Ranch neighborhood council board meeting.
Sherman, who represents the San Fernando Valley, will stop by to give a 15 minute congressional update and answer questions from the community.
The meeting will be held virtually at 6:15 p.m. Community members can view the meeting using this Zoom link. To make a public comment during the meeting, you can raise your hand during the public comment sections.

Sherman has been making other appearances in the area lately. Sherman went to the North Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce October Festival on Sunday, and made remarks at California State University, Northridge alongside Gov. Gavin Newsom on Oct. 6.

What Has Congressman Sherman Been Up To?
In September, Sherman introduced legislation to support women's reproductive rights in states that have enacted certain abortion bans, according to a news release from Sherman. The bill will offer funding for women to travel to other states to access reproductive healthcare.

Sherman has recently been working to support Armenians following the 2020 attacks on Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan. This attack came during an ongoing conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
A key talking point in the area lately has been the Aliso Canyon gas leak in Porter Ranch. The 2015 leak at the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility, operated by Southern California Gas Co., was the biggest methane leak in U.S. history, according to the Los Angeles Times. SoCal Gas recently agreed to pay $1.8 billion in settlements.
Sherman has been outspoken in calling for the closure of the facility, as he lived in the area at the time of the leak.
