3 Firefighters Injured Battling Brushfire In Stevenson Ranch

The fast-moving blaze quickly spread out over 128 acres Monday.

STEVENSON RANCH, CA — Three firefighters were hurt Monday battling a fast moving brushfire in Stevenson Ranch. The blaze broke out at about 1 p.m. and quickly spread to about 128 acres before crews halted its forward progress.

All three firefighters injuries were heat related as crews battled the flames in 106-degree heat.

The blaze broke out Monday afternoon in n the 26000 block of Pico Canyon Road, quickly becoming a three-alarm blaze. No structures are threatened at this time, and water-dropping helicopters are assisting Los Angeles County firefighters. Workers at an oil field in the area were evacuated.

Containment was put at 50 percent by 8 p.m. and crews planned to remain on scene throughout the night to increase containment lines and watch for spot fires, the fire department reported.

Los Angeles Fire Department sent five water-dropping helicopters to assist county firefighters, the department's Amy Bastman said.
