LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 16, 2026) –D1 Training, a leading fitness enrichment concept utilizing the five core tenets of athletic-based training, is celebrating the openings of two new locations in Sherman Oaks and Northridge. Located at 5616 Van Nuys Blvd. in Sherman Oaks and 18425 Nordhoff St., Suite A in Northridge, the new group fitness facilities employ sports science-backed training programs led by certified coaches to help people of all ages achieve their sport and fitness goals.

Sherman Oaks | Opening Date: July 20th

D1 Training Sherman Oaks is locally owned and operated by Doug Maxfield, who joins a roster of impressive franchisees that includes former professional and collegiate athletes. Maxfield brings more than 30 years of experience leading corporate fitness and wellness initiatives, having managed the Warner Bros. Fitness Center and employee wellness programs throughout his career. A lifelong endurance athlete, he also organized company triathlon teams benefiting Children's Hospital Los Angeles and completed an Ironman in Australia. After spending decades helping others prioritize their health and wellness, Maxfield was inspired to pursue business ownership through D1 Training, combining his passion for fitness with his commitment to helping athletes and families throughout the San Fernando Valley reach their full potential.

D1 Training Northridge is locally owned and operated by DJ Milonas, a San Fernando Valley native, former collegiate baseball player, and veteran real estate executive. After more than 20 years building businesses in commercial and residential real estate while coaching youth baseball and basketball, Milonas was inspired to invest in D1 Training as a way to combine his entrepreneurial experience with his passion for athletics and mentorship. As the father of two young sons, he was drawn to the brand's focus on discipline, confidence, and long-term athletic development, making D1 Training a natural fit for his next chapter as a business owner. The Northridge facility is led by a highly experienced coaching staff, including a two-time Olympic gold medalist serving as head coach, while every coach on the team is a former collegiate athlete.

D1 Training offers four age-based programs including Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (ages 12-14), Prep (ages 15-18) and D1 Adult. Each fitness program is based on the five athletic-based tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. Outside of group workouts, D1 Training offers group, semi-private, and one-on-one training with world-class coaches.
