Fire Extinguished In Northridge

A fire burning in the rear unit of a one-story row of commercial businesses on Parthenia Street has been extinguished, the LAFD reports.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — 72 firefighters took 30 minutes to extinguish a fire in Northridge, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported at 3:22 p.m.

At 2:50 p.m. Friday, a fire was reported burning in the rear unit of a one-story row of commercial businesses in the 18600 block of West Parthenia Street, near Reseda Boulevard, in Northridge, just a half a mile away from 8600 North Wilbur Avenue, where an apartment complex burned to the ground on July 4 from illegal fireworks.

The fire in the still unidentified business is mostly extinguished, but are still smoldering in one area, according to the LAFD. No off-site or escalating hazards have been identified, nor have any injuries been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
