Where is the Best Ice Cream in Northridge?
Patch readers told us on Facebook where to go and cool off with a cone of ice cream around Northridge.

NORTHRIDGE, CA - July temperatures have been brutal in many regions across the country, with heat indexes over 100 degrees and heat advisories issued in many states.
Forecasters are warning residents across the country to be vigilant and make sure not to spend too much time outdoors when temperatures are high.
"Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside," according to a weather service statement. "When possible, reschedule strenuous activities for early in the morning or in the evening."

Other recommendations from forecasters include wearing loose clothing and drinking plenty of water.
Energy companies are also offering their advice to residents who are plagued by the hot weather. To cut down on costs, it's best to run appliances in the morning and close the blinds to stop the sunlight from heating up a room. Keep the vents closed and doors shut in rooms that are not occupied.

- Desoto Pharmacy and Soda Shoppe, 20914 Roscoe Blvd: Jerry's Soda Shoppe, located within the pharmacy, has an old-time menu complete with ice-cream sundaes, floats and egg creams. Jerry's is open Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Rite Aid in Chatsworth, 10120 Mason Avenue: One doesn't normally think of ice cream when running errands at the drug store, but Thrifty's Ice Cream at Rite Aid is popular amongst locals. Hours are 7 a.m to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
- Cream, 9000 Reseda Blvd: Customers can choose a classic ice-cream cone or sandwich, or the famous ice-cream taco, made with three scoops of flavors and two toppings. Cream is open seven days a week from noon to 11 p.m. with extended hours to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
