Join the CSUN Cinematheque for a special screening of Federico Fellini's masterpiece 8 1/2. This event is part of 'The Big Dream' series exploring David Lynch's Hollywood trilogy and key films that unlock its mysteries.The Fall 2026 semester’s Cinematheque at CSUN will run for five weeks, meeting every Wednesday from 6:00-9:30 PM in the Armer Screening Room, starting on September 16and concluding on October 14.
The series, The Big Dream: David Lynch’s Hollywood Trilogy and Three Key Films to Unlock Its Mysteries, explores Lynch’s Lost Highway (1997), Mulholland Drive (2001), and Inland Empire (2006) alongside three landmark films that illuminate their themes and cinematic language: Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid’s Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), Ingmar Bergman’s Persona (1966), and Federico Fellini’s 8 1/2 (1963).Through screenings and discussion, the series examines Lynch’s relationship toHollywood, identity, performance, dreams, memory, and the boundaries between fantasy and reality.
The CSUN Cinematheque is an innovative year-round film screening program housed in the Elaine and Alan Armer Screening Room, a state-of-the-art 130 seat motion picture theater on the CSUN campus. Founded by the late Dr. John E. Schultheiss, it is the only venue of its kind in the San Fernando Valley. The Cinematheque presents thematically designed retrospectives of classic films, as well as aesthetically significant contemporary releases--in conjunction with the appearance of featured guest artists for lectures and panel discussions. Conceptual presentations are devoted to: filmographies of important directors, writers, actors, cinematographers; essential genre works; seminal documentaries; major literary, philosophical, narrative themes and traditions; defining technical and artistic models and styles. The Cinematheque is also intended as a regular venue for film organizations, student film competitions, and conferences. Collaboration is encouraged with local studios, guilds, and academies for screenings and related events.
The majority of CSUN Cinematheque screenings support the academic mission of theCinema and Television Arts Department. These are provided in conjunction with a lecture or Q&amp;A.

Non-Profit offers a place for parents and caregivers with young children to dress up and enjoy carnival games, trick-or-treat rooms and wellness activities
Northridge, CA – The Child and Family Guidance Center (CFGC), a leading non-profit mental health care provider, is hosting a FREE Halloween Festival and Health Fair on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at their Northridge location – 9650 Zelzah Avenue in Northridge. CFGC’s Halloween Fest is FREE for everyone -- families with young children from birth to twelve years of age are encouraged to dress up – to enjoy carnival games, a petting zoo, Trick-or-Treat Halloween decorated rooms, pumpkin decorating, arts and crafts, live music, food trucks, giveaways and health booths. Guests are encouraged to download CFGC’s mobile app to access more information, resources and updates. CFGC’s 5th Annual Halloween Fest last year drew a crowd of more than 2,000 guests, 75 volunteers and included various community sponsors. CFGC fights the stigma surrounding mental health issues and works to ensure that everyone has access to the treatment they need to live their healthiest, happiest and most productive life.

A Faery Hunt shows are interactive, immersive performances designed for young audiences &amp; families to inspire creativity, imagination &amp; fun. 
We'll go on a gentle quest through the forest to find the faeries in this lovely, immersive and musical adventure! What a great way to get the kids outside with the whole family. Perfect for ages 2-10, boys and girls, and the young-at-heart. Many children come in costume. Wings, garlands, wands, wizard hats &amp; CD's of the Faery hits from our award-winning shows are available for sale at the show.
After the show, enjoy a Halloween Party with all the faery folk.&nbsp; Face painting, games, prizes and snacks.
Groups and parties are welcome!
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The cost: $40.00. Adult tickets and children’s tickets are the same price and each person needs a ticket.
