1 Dead, 1 Injured After Kayak Capsizes In Tomales Bay
Authorities received reports of a capsized kayak with two people in the water near Mendoza Beach in Tomales Bay just after 6 p.m. Saturday.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — One person died and one was injured Saturday in a kayak accident near Tomales Bay, Marin County Fire said.
Just after 6 p.m., first responders received reports of a capsized kayak with two people in the water near Mendoza Beach in Tomales Bay.
Multiple rescue crews arrived from the Marin and Sonoma county sheriff's offices, Marin County Fire, the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Park Service.

One person was located in the water near an overturned kayak, along with a dog. The person was airlifted out and the dog was rescued by boat, according to Marin County Fire.
A second person was found unresponsive in the water. They were hoisted out of the bay and taken to a nearby area for lifesaving measures, then taken to the hospital, where they were declared deceased.

The first person survived but was treated for hypothermia; the dog also survived and was not injured.
