2 Arrested In Novato DUI Checkpoint

Police set up the DUI and driver's license checkpoint from 6 p.m. to midnight on westbound San Marin Drive at West Campus Drive.

NOVATO, CA – Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Friday night in Novato, police said Saturday.

The Novato Police Department set up the DUI and driver’s license checkpoint from 6 p.m. to midnight on westbound San Marin Drive at West Campus Drive.

A total of 1,115 drivers were screened during the checkpoint with 20 field sobriety tests performed, police said.

In addition to two DUI arrests, nine people were cited for driving without a license and three were cited for driving on a suspended driver's license, police said. Seven vehicles were towed.

Police also cited a 16-year-old boy from Santa Rosa on suspicion of providing false information to a police officer and possessing a controlled substance for sale. He was released to his mother, police said.
