Sonoma County, California April 2013: The Women's PowerStrategy™ Conference, founded by bestselling author and women’s welfare advocate Patricia V. Davis is being held in northern California for the second year and like her writings, has picked up quite the cult following via the world wide web.

The inaugural conference held in Marin County in 2012 boasted California Arts Council Chair Malissa Shriver as keynote and many other talented individuals from a variety of industries who teamed up for this day-long event that features sessions on everything from business to relationships.  In keeping with the philosophies expressed in Ms. Davis’s books, the conference goal is to leave attendees inspired to live their best lives. Though aimed at women ages 13 to 113, men are also encouraged to attend. Several of the speakers are male who believe that to invest in the power of women is to create a better society for all.

This year’s conference on June 15 at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, has garnered the interest of more leaders than ever, with speakers coming from as far as New York, Canada, Texas and Oklahoma, all who heard about it through Davis’s online presence where she believes in speaking directly to her readers and others who “share common goals and dreams.”

“It’s only our second year, and we’re astounded by the tremendous response from both speakers and attendees. This makes me believe more than ever that this is a much-needed experience for many,” says Davis. “So much so that I hope to eventually take it nationwide.”

For every admission ticket purchased, The Women’s PowerStrategy™ Conference sponsors one girl or woman to attend free of charge. Among these will be organizers and high school girls from local chapters of Girls Inc. Alameda, Island City and West Contra Costa. For over 50 years these award-winning Girls Inc. affiliates have responded to the unique needs of girls in the most underserved communities of San Francisco’s East Bay through a myriad of programs that challenge girls to be “strong, smart, and bold”.

“There are many worthwhile groups to sponsor, but Girls Inc. is the one we’re primarily focused on right now,” says Ms. Davis. “It’s by far one of the best programs for girls.”

Conference videographer Traci Wrycza of Mayday Media adds, “I’m excited to hear the keynote speakers, Zakiya Mackey and Jennifer Tacheff. Though young themselves, they’ve already done so much to mentor other young women.”

In addition to the speaker sessions, a reception will be held for those over the age of 21 after the conference featuring wines from Barefoot Winery of Sonoma. Barefoot Wines co- founder Bonnie Harvey is also a speaker this year.  Stand up comic Joe Klocek will entertain at the reception and also be on the Men’s Panel during the day. The Sonoma Conservatory of Dance, under the direction of Patty O’Reilly, another conference speaker, will give a short performance at the reception as well. A complimentary tour of Sonoma Lavender Fields will take place the day after the conference for all attendees and is being hosted by co-owner Rebecca Rosenberg, yet another fabulous conference speaker.
