On Monday, kindergarten students from Marin Christian Academy participated in Hot Cocoa and Newspaper Day. Kindergarten teacher Cindy Isaac has a longstanding tradition of greeting students on a Spring morning with a section from the morning paper and a cup of hot cocoa. She said, “Its fun to prove to the students that they now know enough words to read the newspaper.”
Student Sicily Grasso (age 6) said, “I like reading about dance and the San Francisco ballet and enjoying cocoa.” Student Joshua Breen (age 6) added,“I like that I know how to read now since I have been doing lots of homework.” Joshua's mother, Elena Breen said, “I think its awesome, and I love that Joshua is proud of himself.”
According to Isaac, the class read over 1,671 words.
