In honor of Earth Day, the Novato community will once again celebrate by cleaning up litter, weeds and graffiti throughout the city. The 18th annual CLEAN AND GREEN DAY, scheduled for Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is organized by the Novato Streetscape Maintenance Coalition, a City-sponsored committee of volunteers who bring the City together with community groups, businesses, and residents to clean and beautify neighborhoods citywide.
Since 1995, ‘Clean and Green Day’ participants have picked up trash, eradicated graffiti, and pulled weeds in Novato street medians, parks, schools, trails, creek banks, and open space. Materials such as safety vests, bags and gloves are provided and volunteers can choose to work on any area between Olompali and Pacheco Valle, and Black Point to Indian Valley. No prior experience is required.
Volunteers should meet at the Scottsdale Pond Gazebo to pick their their location. Groups of 5 or more, please call 899-8244, or Ed Schulze at 897-8969 or Susan Stompe at 897-1610.
