The Novato Gymnastics Team competed at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge on February 23-24, held at Parkside Hall in San Jose.
Level 9 gymnast Kaila Greenstein had her best meet of the season, by scoring 33.100 in the All Around, good for 5th place. She placed 2nd on Floor Exercise with her season-high 9.000 score.
Carina Berryhill and Emmy Nam won four of the five categories in the Level 7 Senior B Division. Berryhill won Vault with 9.300, and Floor Exercise with 9.200. Nam won Uneven Bars with 9.000, and the All Around with 35.425. In the Junior B Division, Sofia Doyle placed 2nd All Around with 36.800, 2nd on Uneven Bars with 9.350, and 2nd on Floor Exercise with 9.350. The Level 7 Team, with only 3 scores counting, took 6th place.
Rachel Barnett won the Xcel Platinum All Around for the third time in as many meets this season, with a 37.200 total. Rachel also won Uneven Bars with 9.725, and Balance Beam with 9.325.
The Novato Gymnastics Team will turn its attention to the Novato Classic, which will be held on March 16-17 at the Novato Gymnastics Center.
