Singer Stefanie Keys Celebrates her Birthday at Rancho Nicasio

Americana rock singer Stefanie Keys and her band is returning to Rancho Nicasio on Saturday, March 30 to celebrate her birthday with her hometown friends.

Keys, who hails from West Marin, is a nationally known singer, having appeared with 420 funk mob, Tommy Castro, and Janis Joplin’s original band Big Brother & the Holding Company. Also having performed with members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Bay Area vocalist is recognized for her unique throaty delivery of the tunes she croons.

She recently performed in Talk That Talk with members of John Lee Hooker’s coast to coast blues band at the Monterey Pop Festival. Keys was part of the all-woman artist line-up with the Vulva Palooza tour in Atlanta.

Several Bay Area renowned musicians, including guitarist Dave Shul, will join her on stage. He has toured the world, performing with Michael Franti and Spearhead for 14 years. He has co-written more than 20 songs on the albums Stay Human, Yell Fire, All Rebel Rockers and Everyone Deserves Music. Shul has also performed with the Counting Crows, Billy Preston and Dave Matthews and brought fellow Spearhead band member Raliegh J Neal II into the band.

The keyboardist has a diverse background including entertaining with a Native American performance group and playing organ in church.

Other band members include: Steve Froberg (Frobeck) on bass and Ronnie Smith (Jerry Jeff Walker, Tommy Castro) on drums.
