Take the Safe Driving Pledge, Novato!

The City of Novato and the Novato Unified School District have teamed up to emphasize safe driving habits in Novato, via the Safe Driving Pledge campaign, a project of Street Smarts Marin.

The Safe Driving Pledge Campaign is a movement to encourage safe driving habits, and reduce speeding and distracted driving.  The program invites residents to “TAKE THE PLEDGE” online, drive responsibly, and spread the word by placing a static cling decal—provided once the pledge is taken—on the rear window of their vehicle. On May 14, the Novato City Council will present proclamations to the schools that achieve more than 25% participation in online pledges. To date, more than 8 schools have participated. We ask that you take a moment (literally seconds) to go online and pledge to safer, undistracted driving!

“Our goal is to prevent injuries and save lives through vigorous outreach and education,” said Councilmember Jeanne MacLeamy. “Coupled with the ongoing efforts of our engineering and police departments, we hope that through this campaign we can reignite our community’s commitment to driving safely, and make Novato the safest driving city in the nation.”
