A San Rafael woman accused of clubbing and slashing a girl in a street attack was sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday. Merideida Glendy Paxtor, 21, pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon, said Deputy District Attorney Leon Kousharian. Paxtor was sentenced by Judge Burt Pines. The incident occurred last March in the area of Larkspur and Canal streets, where the victim was walking down the street. Police said Paxtor, who had a prior dispute with the girl, hit the victim in the head with a baseball bat and then slashed her face. The girl suffered a quarter-inch-deep slash from the top of her head, past her eye and lips and down to her cheek, police said. Paxtor attacked the victim because she had been beaten up in the prior incident, said her defense attorney, David Blair. "The negotiated plea and sentence was a fair result given the charges, evidence and injuries to the victim balanced against the victim's gang ties and her prior assault on Ms. Paxtor," Blair said.
