Citizen Marin, a Task Force of the Social Justice Center of Marin, will be hosting an open Town Hall meeting to discuss better ways or solving our planning and affordable housing development challenges in Marin County.

The evening will examine the facts and fallacies of Plan Bay Area and the Sustainable Communities Strategies currently being promoted by the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC).

Bob Silvestri, author of “The Best Laid Plans: Our Planning and Affordable Housing Challenges in Marin,” will make the keynote presentation addressing the history of planning and affordable housing, the need to create a truly sustainable future and the consequences of the loss of local government input and control. The keynote will be followed by an “open mic” town hall discussion that will invite everyone to speak on issues of general concern.

Participating organizations include: the North San Rafael Coalition of Residents, Sustainable TamAlmonte, Friends of Mill Valley, San Marin Compatible Housing Coalition, Novato Homeowners Association and Novato Community Alliance.
