MSA Theatre Department Has Incredible Run at Ohlone Drama Festival
MSA students bring home 45 awards from the 19th Annual Ohlone Drama Festival
This weekend Marin School of the Arts at Novato High participated in the 19th Annual Ohlone College High School Theater Festival in Fremont, CA. Competing among 26 schools from Northern California and more than 750 applicants, our 41 students participated in 24 categories, and individual competitors received an astonishing 12 awards. The total awards received was a whopping 45 as all students of the MSA program were specially recognized with:
· Judges’ Sweepstakes Award – awarded to the one school with the highest number of points per student earned
· Spirit Award – chosen by teachers and Ohlone staff for the one school that most exemplifies the spirit of collaboration, support of others, and fair play.

· 1st Place Maxi Musical Theater – Recognized for superior performance by a large ensemble cast in a 10 minute musical theater production. (31 of our students performed)

The students performed through 3 rigorous rounds of competition before more than 200 judges from professional and educational theater. Students were provided with a truly competitive environment in which to showcase their talents while being introduced to exciting new performances, interacting with peers and professionals in a collegiate environment, and observing top caliber performing arts students from across the Nor Cal region. The Ohlone College Theater Festival merits college credit to all competitors while recognizing these exemplary performers with awards in their specific categories:

1st Place: Classical Humorous Ensemble: Madison Milliner & James Witous

3rd Place: Contemporary Dramatic Monologue: Lara Garay
