NOVATO, CA- A total of more than 5,000 customers were initially affected by a power outage Tuesday in Novato, caused by a downed line in town, PG&E tells Patch.
Officials say that the outage started at around 12:20 p.m. Approximately 5,100 customers were affected.
“We had a powerline that fell to the ground,” a PG&E spokesman told Patch by telephone, adding that it’s not yet clear if the line fell because of the current storm.
Power was restored in waves to area residents, with 1,400 customers getting it back by 12:50 p.m., another 1,200 getting it back around 1:05 p.m. and another 2,000 getting it back by 1:40 p.m.
As of 3 p.m., approximately 500 customers remained without power, according to PG&E. That’s expected to be restored by midnight.
An updated power outage map, below, shows what area of town was affected as of 2:30 p.m.
