Caregiver Songs

Even if you can't carry a tune, these songs will string bring out the best of your caregiving!

Being a caregiver is a full-time commitment. It takes strength to lovingly take on the care for another human being. When you are having a hard day you can lift your spirits with music and what better way than with songs that remind you of what is important about your decision to be there for a loved one?

For fun, here’s a list of songs that others have mentioned to me. The lyrics and the melodies capture what’s best about being a caregiver:

I Won’t Let Go By Rascal Flatts
This emotional ballad talks of not letting go and always being there for the person you love. The lyrics, “I will stand by you, I will help you through when you feel like you can’t cope” send powerful messages of hope and commitment. This is the level of commitment that caregivers offer their loved ones on a daily basis.

If you ever need a reminder of the type of commitment you need to have, this song will help jog your memory.

I’m Only Human By Jefferey Osborne
Even though you may forget it from time to time, the fact is that you are only human. Being a caregiver doesn’t mean you automatically gain superhuman powers. You might have to act tough and power through when you feel tired and depressed, but at the end of the day there is only so much you can do. This song is about admitting your faults; that even though you can only do so much, you still try to be the person your loved one needs.

Superman (It’s Not Easy)
By Five for Fighting

This is a touching song . Caregivers can relate to the powerful message: “even heroes have the right to bleed”. A good reminder that everyone deserves the right to feel. Even those - especially those - others rely upon for their well being.

So go ahead and start singing!
