On my Mind
This past Saturday, the Novato community gathered to remember and celebrate the life of former councilmember and 4 time Mayor Ernie Gray. Ernie was the epitome of a public servant and Novato will always be indebted to his dedication and commitment to our city. I didn’t have the pleasure of working alongside Ernie on the City Council, but we did connect on a few occasions. I remember reaching out to him when I was running for the city council several years back and was honored that he took the time to meet with me over a cup of coffee.

I can’t recall which specific Novato issues we discussed at that time, but the one thing I do recall was Ernie’s sheer sincerity and genuine character. Our brief coffee meeting left a lasting impact. Ernie definitely left big shoes to fill in our community and, as I learned at the celebration of his life, those shoes are both figurative and literal as the former Mayor wore size 15E.

To the honorable Ernie Gray, thank you for your service. To his entire family, thank you for sharing such a great man with our city. Pictures.

Novato Youth Soccer Kick’s Off 2015 Season – As one who grew up playing Novato Youth Soccer and then coaching, it is always fun to be a part of the opening day celebration. The teams started with a parade at San Marin High School followed by some ceremonial first goals. Thank you to the association and all the coaches and parents for making our youth soccer program one of the best in the Bay Area! Pictures.
