Community Corner

Councilmember's Column (June 22 - June 28)

Councilmember Eric Lucan shares city news, events and meetings on the horizon, and on occasion a few spontaneous thoughts.

On my Mind
The best 4th of July Parade in the North Bay is almost here. I can’t think of an event that better embodies the community spirit of Novato. Whether you are a regular at the annual parade or thinking about attending for the first time, I hope to see you this year. There is plenty to do before the parade as well.

Starting at 7AM, come to the Redwood Credit Union parking lot for the 63rd Annual Presbyterian Church Buckaroo Breakfast. From there you can load up on pancakes and then head down to 7th and Grant for the Firecracker Run. The Firecracker 4 Miler starts at 8AM followed by the Mayor’s 1 Mile at 8:05. After the jog, walk, or run, you can head back to Grant for the parade that starts at 10AM.

Also, be sure to stay for the entire parade as they are truly saving the best for last this year where Novato’s Ridgway Space Station will certainly rock Grant Avenue as the final float. You won’t want to miss it!
