For years the Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise has sponsored the California Department of Fish & Game’s Fishing in the City program in the spring and the fall at Scottsdale Pond in Novato. The pond is stocked with thousands of pounds of catfish and fishing equipment is provided free of charge. The event is best geared toward kids roughly 8-12 years old but all are welcome.
Each participant moves form station to station learning something new. By the time all stations are completed, the participants have a rigged fishing rod, a small tackle box, and a better understanding of their environmental surroundings. Participants get to keep the tackle box and a free hotdog lunch is provided afterward. Fishing rods are returned at the end of the event.
Come early to avoid the crowds, first group will start at 8 a.m. and the last will start at 11. The event will happen rain or shine, but pray for shine. See you there.
