Legion of Honor Museum docent, Rita Dunlay will discuss the fascination of impressionist painters with water and boating. Many impressionist painters had both an artistic and active interest in boating. Ideas of middle class leisure, an interest in painting out of doors and a desire to capture movement in their art contributed to body of work that captures the interest of sailors and lovers of art. A Legion of Honor Museum docent will provide the social and historical context for this delightful collection of art.
