Marin Conservation League's Walk into (Conservation) History series continues this year with our thirteenth walk at Olompali State Historic Park on Saturday, March 23, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.
Nestled on the east-facing slopes of Mount Burdell, Olompali State Historic Park offers exquisite views from the Petaluma River basin out to the San Francisco Bay. Olompali’s serene hills and waters have been home to Coast Miwok, wealthy landowners, Catholic priests, a psychedelic rock group and a hippie commune.

Join MCL for a walk led by MCL President Susan Stompe and Biologist Clint Kellner. After the walk, meet at the Frame House (Visitor Center/Museum) to learn more about the history of Olompali.

This moderately strenuous 2.7-mile hike on the Miwok and Loop Trails is free and open to the public. Wear layers, sunscreen and comfortable shoes, and bring a snack, water and camera.
Directions: The Olompali exit is accessed from southbound
Highway 101. To reach it from Marin, travel north on Highway 101. Exit at the Landfill Access, cross the highway and come back to the southbound entrance to the park. Meet in the paved parking area. Parking is $8; please bring exact change. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch for after the walk. Sorry—dogs are not allowed in State Historic Parks.
