Movie and a Meal- Healing Words: Poetry and Medicine

We are happy to present our Movie and a Meal community evenings at the Sonoma Shambhala Center. It is a regular event falling on the third Friday of each month. On March 15th we will be showing:

                         Healing Words: Poetry and Medicine

Healing Words: Poetry and Medicine is a sixty-minute documentary filmed in 2008 primarily at Shands at the University of Florida. The production portrays individuals in personal quest to recover psychologically and physically from illnesses that have dramatically changed their lives. This film validates expressive art in medical settings can build doctor-patient relationships and be a supportive companion in the healing process. Viewers will be touched by the compassion shown in this powerful and poignant documentary.

Before each movie, we provide a simple meal for the community to share in.  Our meal generally consists of a crockpot of vegetarian soup and a yummy whole grain bread, along with wine and non-alcoholic beverages.

We gather at 6:00 for the meal; the movie usually begins around 6:45 to 7:00.

Popcorn, tea and soda will be served during the movie.

A suggested donation of $5-$10 is requested to cover the cost of the movie royalty fees and refreshments.
