Fatal Novato Hit-And-Run: CHP Seeks Car Used In Collision
Investigators believe a 2006-2013 Nissan Versa is the vehicle that struck and killed a male pedestrian early Thursday morning in Novato.

NOVATO, CA – Police are asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle used in a fatal hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning in Novato.
Investigators believe a 2006-2013 Nissan Versa is the vehicle that struck and killed a male pedestrian, according to the California Highway Patrol's Marin Area Office. CHP officers found parts of a vehicle near the pedestrian hit-and-run collision that occurred at the Atherton Avenue on-ramp to southbound U.S. Highway 101.
Based on witness statements, investigators believe the collision occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m., CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

The involved vehicle will have sustained damage to the right front headlight, hood, fender and a detached right side mirror, Barclay said.
A big-rig driver stopped when he saw the man's body in the road, Barclay said.

Emergency responders said it appears the man was struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene and no vehicles that may have been involved were found, Barclay said.
The pedestrian's identity will be released when his next of kin are contacted, according to the Marin County coroner's office.
The CHP is talking with witnesses who either stopped at the scene or called the CHP dispatch center, Barclay said.
