Felon Arrested For Having Gun, Assaulting Cop ​In Novato: Police

Police arrested three people and seized a loaded gun, butcher knife and a large amount of meth​ after responding to a trespassing call.

NOVATO, CA – Novato police arrested three people and seized a loaded gun, butcher knife and a large amount of methamphetamine after responding to a trespassing call early Friday morning at a Novato apartment complex.

Police responded around 12:30 a.m. to a call about three suspected homeless trespassers in the laundry room of the Wyndover Apartments on Diablo Avenue.

Ivan O'Day, 49, of Novato, struck one of the officers when he tried to escape, police said. He was taken into custody after a short struggle.

O'Day is a convicted felon and he was in possession of a loaded firearm, a large butcher knife and a large amount of meth, police said.

Patricia Lopez, 35, of Santa Rosa, had a warrant in Sonoma County for her arrest and she was in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, according to police. Robert Knight, 27, of Novato, was in possession of a large amount of meth, police said.

All three were booked into Marin County Jail. An officer suffered minor injuries during the altercation but returned to work, police said.
