Red Flag Warning Issued For North Bay

NORTH BAY, CA – Fire season isn't over yet as critical fire weather conditions are expected to return this week, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for the North Bay mountains and other parts of the San Francisco Bay Area.

The red flag warning is in effect from 11 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Wednesday for the North Bay mountains and East Bay hills, according to the National Weather Service. A classic fall offshore pattern will develop 20-to-30-mph winds across the region with 40-to-55 mph gusts.

The fire weather watch is no longer in effect.

Although humidity is excepted to be 40-to-50 percent Monday night, it will drop rapidly Tuesday to 9-to-19 percent when warm weather returns to the region, along with breezy offshore winds with little-to-no humidity recovery Tuesday night into early Wednesday, according to weather service.

The areas with the highest threats of fire danger are the Napa County hills along the Yolo and Lake county lines, in addition to Mount Saint Helena and Mount Tamalpais, according to the weather service. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly, weather officials said.
