Coyotes of Mount Burdell Seem to Enjoy Broad Daylight
It's becoming easier to spot them during hikes. What should you do if you come across one?
Howling at the moon, traveling in packs, active after dusk and before daylight — it might all be considered typical behavior of a coyote.
But for the past year, we have witnessed what we think is atypical behavior of the coyotes on Mount Burdell. We have seen them alone, in packs or with their young, on bright sunny days on the trails.
Haven't seen the coyotes? Well, they stand at attention with watchful eyes and keen hearing, to insure they are invisible as they try to avoid contact with humans.
