2.WALK INTO HISTORY

Where/When: 502 S. Palm Drive, Novato (meet in main parking lot across from the old movie theater), Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Why Go: Because Hamilton Field has a rich, storied history. From birds to planes and back to birds again. Hear about World War II and the post-war years at the former air force base. Don’t forget your walking shoes and binoculars.

3. 2011 OSCAR NOMINATED SHORT FILMS

Where/When: Smith Rafael Film Center,  1118 Fourth St., San Rafael, Feb. 11-17

Why Go: Live Action Shorts. Animated Shorts. Documentary Shorts. This is your chance to check them out before the Academy Awards.

Pricing: $10.25 general admission

4. FUNGUS FAIR MUSHROOM WALK

Where/When Point Reyes, Bear Valley Visitor Center, 79 Bear Valley Rd., Olema, Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why Go: A wonderful opportunity to pick mushrooms and find out more about them with the Mycological Society. At 1 p.m., bring your finds to the Red Barn for identification.

Pricing: Free.

5. 31st ANNUAL COUPLES RELAY

Where/When: Vintage Oaks Shopping Center, 100 Vintage Way, Novato, 9 a.m. Sunday.

Why Go: This 4-mile race is split between you and your partner. Don’t have one?  Come anyway, Race officials are willing to play matchmaker. Prizes and fun follow the race.

Pricing: $30 per couple
