The Doors of Heaven are Open… So are Ours!

The Jewish New Year – Rosh Hashanah – will commence on Wednesday evening, September 24th. The Chabad Jewish Center will host full High Holiday services and a community dinner. “Our services will be warm, friendly and traditional,” says Rabbi Menachem Landa, the director of the center. Organizers say that last year’s services were a phenomenal success, with large crowds in attendance. The services will take place at City Hall, 901 Sherman Ave.

All are welcome to attend services, free of charge, regardless of background or affiliation. Membership is not required to join, and there are no prerequisites. All prayers will combine the original Hebrew and translated English. In addition, a special children’s program will accompany the adult services.

“Our tradition teaches that at the New Year, the doors of Heaven are open; G-d accepts all prayers, from anyone,” explains the rabbi. “The least we can do is open our doors, as well, to the entire community.”

Since its inception in 2012, the Jewish Center – the only one in Novato – has seen unbelievable growth. The center offers a wide range of programs for all ages, including the Jewish Kids’ Club, a newly launched teens’ club (CTeen!), a men’s group (Bagels, Lox, and Torah), and the Jewish Women’s Circle, along with ongoing classes and services. The center was just voted best in Jewish life in the North Bay in the categories of Adult Education, Innovative programming and social action.

Services will be held on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year (September 24-26), as well as Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement (October 3rd and 4th). Services will be held at City Hall, 901 Sherman Ave, Novato, CA 94945.
