Highway 1 Closed For Construction Near Marin-Sonoma County Line

Delays are expected. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes if possible.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – State Highway 1 is closed for construction until around 7 p.m. Tuesday near the Marin-Sonoma county line.

The highway is closed from Valley Ford Road to the north to Tomales Petaluma Road to the south for bridge construction, according to Caltrans. Workers are pouring concrete on a section of a bridge deck of the new Estero-Americano Bridge in Marin County.

The new bridge will have improved height clearance over the flood-prone creek below, according to Caltrans.

Motorists will be detoured around the construction at Valley Ford Road and Tomales Petaluma Road and back onto Highway 1, according to Caltrans. Bicyclists will be detoured off Whitaker Bluff Road and Middle Road.

Delays are expected. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes if possible, Caltrans officials said.
