Local Band Teacher Raises Money For Instruments At Marin County Middle School

The middle school needs community assistance to equip a growing band program with instruments for student practice.

NOVATO, CA — San Jose Middle School's band program is experiencing a significant increase in student interest for the upcoming school year, but the equipment supply is struggling to keep pace with the growing demand, according to the local band teacher.

The school is reaching out to the community for financial support and donations of used instruments to ensure every student can participate and practice at home.

"We have even more sign-ups for next year than we did this year for band, but we need the equipment supply to keep up with the demand," said Emma Becker, the SJMS band teacher. "Students should be able to take an instrument home to practice."

Ms. Becker is asking the community to consider donating to help purchase new instruments or to donate any gently used instruments to bolster the program's resources and support the musical education of its students.

If anyone wants to donate an instrument, contact ebecker@nusd.org. Donations can be made at https://www.donorschoose.org/ms-becker1.
