Low-Interest Federal Disaster Loans For Storm Victims Open In Marin County
An estimated $4.35 million in damage was caused by the severe storm surges, flooding, and king tides.
MARIN COUNTY, CA – Residents, businesses, and private nonprofits in Marin County can now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration to help recover from the severe storm surges, flooding, and king tides that caused an estimated $4.35 million in damage countywide in early January.
The federal assistance became available following an emergency proclamation issued by the County of Marin on Jan. 13, in response to conditions caused by the severe weather between December 31, 2025, and January 5, 2026. The storm resulted in widespread coastal and inland flooding, road closures, utility disruption, and property damage from excessive rain, high winds, storm surge and record king tides.
SBA loans are available to offset both physical and economic losses. Homeowners and renters can borrow funds to replace or repair personal property such as clothing, furniture, cars and appliances. Businesses can use the loans to repair or replace disaster-damaged real estate, machinery, equipment, inventory and other business assets.
