Macy's Novato Furniture Store Closing

Macy's Novato Furniture Store is among 11 Macy's locations shutting its doors in early 2018.

NOVATO, CA – Macy's is planning to cut thousands of jobs and close nearly a dozen more stores, including the company's Novato site.

Macy's Novato Furniture Store on 100 Vintage Way is among 11 locations shutting its doors in early 2018. It was previously announced that the company would also be closing Macy's in the Stonestown Galleria in San Francisco. Other locations are in California, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Vermont.

The closures are part of a plan announced in August 2016 to close 100 stores. The company is nearing the completion of 81 closures. The 19 remaining locations have not yet been announced.

The closures will result in about 5,000 job cuts.

Liquidation sales are likely to begin Jan. 8 and continue for eight to 12 weeks.

"A healthy store base combined with robust digital capabilities is Macy's recipe for success," Macy's CEO Jeff Gennette said in a statement. "Looking ahead to 2018, we are focused on continuous improvement and will take the necessary steps to move faster, execute more effectively and allocate resources to invest in growth."
