Man Arrested In Novato On Suspicion Of Vehicle Theft

Rolando DelTorro, 39, of Novato had an active arrest warrant from Sonoma County for an unrelated offense.

NOVATO, CA – A man was arrested Saturday night in Novato on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, according to police.

At 10:11 p.m., an automated license plate reader mounted on a patrol vehicle alerted an officer of a stolen vehicle that was parked in the 1300 block of Cambridge Street. The vehicle, a Cadillac sedan, was reported
stolen from Oakland the previous day.

According to police, inside the vehicle was a single occupant, identified as Rolando DelTorro, 39, of Novato. DelTorro had an active arrest warrant from Sonoma County for an unrelated offense, and was also on probation from Marin County for possessing a stolen vehicle, police said.

When the officer first made contact with DelTorro, he gave the officer a false name and date of birth, police said.

According to police, the officer also discovered DelTorro was in possession of a controlled substance.

DelTorro was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle.
