Marin County Receives $500K Grant For Student Art Programs

The funding went to the Marin County Office of Education and the nonprofit Youth in Arts.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – The Marin County Office of Education and the nonprofit Youth in Arts have received a $500,000 state grant to provide arts programming in 14 additional special day classrooms in the county.

The grant also includes funding for teacher and paraprofessional training and curriculum development to improve access to arts in the county, as well as a summer Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering and Mathematics camp to reduce disparities among students.

Youth in Arts is celebrating its successful exhibition in March of the best high school art in Marin County. "Rising Stars," the 28th annual Marin County high school art show, is showing at the YIA Gallery at 917 C St. in San Rafael through March 29. The gallery is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday
through Friday.

Rising Stars features nearly 150 works by high school students throughout the county. Youth in Arts serves more than 18,000 pre-K-12 students of all abilities every year.
