Marin Hospital Earns Accreditation For Excellence In Cardiac Care

Marin General Hospital received a three-year accreditation in Echocardiography by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.

From Marin General Hospital: Marin General Hospital has been granted a three-year accreditation in Echocardiography by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The IAC grants accreditation to facilities that provide quality patient care and are in compliance with national Echocardiography standards. The hospital earned approval for its Echocardiography in the areas of Adult Stress, Adult Transesophageal and Adult Transthoracic. IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indicator of consistent quality care and a dedication to continuous improvement.

Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious conditions. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, followed closely by stroke as the fourth highest cause of death. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), more than 2,150 Americans die each day from cardiovascular disease which amounts to about one every 40 seconds.

“We are thrilled to earn this seal of approval recognizing the work done to make sure our cardiovascular patients receive quality care that adheres to the highest standards,” said Lee Domanico, Chief Executive Officer for Marin General Hospital. “This reaccreditation is an acknowledgement of our high level of professionalism and our commitment to providing the highest quality cardiac care for our community.”

Accreditation by the IAC means that Marin General Hospital has undergone an intensive application and review process and is found to be in compliance with the published Standards, thus demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care in echocardiography. Comprised of a detailed self-evaluation followed by a thorough review by a panel of medical experts, the IAC accreditation process enables both the critical operational and technical components of the applicant facility to be assessed, including representative case studies and their corresponding final reports.
