Chris Carpiniello told Patch why they should be elected for the Marin County Board of Supervisors.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Chris Carpiniello is vying for one of two seats on the Marin County Board of Supervisors.
County elections officials will begin mailing ballots by May 4, in which voters will decide between seven candidates running for the board of supervisors seats, including one being vacated by Eric Lucan who opted to run for the state Assembly.
Carpiniello is running for the District 5 seat, which covers northern Marin, primarily Novato.

Why are you seeking a seat on the Board of Supervisors?
I am disappointed in the track record of the Board over the last 40 years and I think I can make a difference in the lives of all Marin residents. (That’s the short story)
What do you think are the top three issues for voters in this election, and how do you plan to address them?
- Affordability
- Housing
- Funding Shortfalls
There are many reasons for why these issues are first and foremost at this time. I believe this is the result of a decades long, concerted effort by “Sacramento” to undermine the constitution, constrain liberty, consolidate power, and ultimately control every aspect of our lives.
I plan on instituting thorough reviews and audits using crowd sourcing, of all past, present and proposed spending, budgets, taxes, fees, ordinances and regulations with the goal of removing ALL that infringe on Liberty and our God given rights as affirmed in the Declaration of Independence.
Why are you a better choice than your opponents?
I am the only fiscal conservative running in district 5 and for the reasons stated above, the only candidate who wants to put tax money and control back into the hands of the tax payers through reductions in taxes, ordinances and regulations etc., in place of ever expanding tax and spend policies that have little to no discernible results or benefits to the majority of Marin's tax payers.
In the last 4 decades and through my leadership in local business and community involvement, I have assembled a vast array of advisors. Together and with a humanitarian perspective, we will carefully scrutinize every issue facing Marin today and find real and quantifiable answers to our most important questions.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Running a successful contracting business for 40 years with planning, project management, budgeting, and estimating skills.
Active in local church committees and boards for 4 decades. Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, Marin Cursillo, Christian Motorcyclists Association, Bill Glass and Kairos Prison Ministries with contacts and friends in many other Marin and Bay Area church communities.
Member of the Marin Association of builders for 25 years. Ran for Novato City Council in 2022. Founded a successful and ongoing election security effort in Marin in 2022 that is still operating under a new identity and that has had national implications. Appointed to the Marin County Republican Central Committee (MCRCC) in 2021. Elected by the Marin Voters to the MCRCC in 2024. Currently "Executive-At-Large” on the Marin County Republican Central Committee Executive Board (Jan. 2025 to present). Current and former Chair, MCRCC Election Integrity Sub-Committee (2022, 2023, and 2025 to current)
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
Yes, see above.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know?
I am very interested in hearing from you about your concerns. Any sincere person is welcome to call me at 415-706-7722. I usually answer but if I can’t, please leave a message including your name, number, and the reason you called. I will call you back as soon as possible.
What is one specific change you would support to improve public safety in your district?
Public safety has many aspects. One way I could help increase public safety is to implement dredging of low lying waterways, creeks, and canals regularly to maintain drainage capacity and reduce the potential for flooding in critical areas.
In recent decades, dredging activities have been wrongly vilified by special interest groups and lobbyists resulting in certain laws being enacted severely restricting our ability to dredge and maintain our waterways. This has cost our residents dearly, increased our vulnerability to flooding and is an ill advised policy that must be reversed.
What specific actions should the Board of Supervisors take to address homelessness, and how would you evaluate whether current efforts are working?
While efforts to house and provide for the homeless and their needs are laudable and have increased in recent years, there have been many misunderstandings of court rulings such as the Boise vs Martin case that have led us down the wrong path and we have, as a result, wrongly imposed unsustainable burdens on Marin County, our cities, and most importantly our tax payers.
Addressing the many aspects of this situation is not an easy task, however, continued increases in spending without clear oversight and accountability to the people is ill-advised.
Sacramento has created a money laundering scheme around this issue wasting many BILLIONS of dollars! In order to better serve this community we absolutely must have a thorough audit and review of every dollar that has already been or is currently proposed to be spent.
With the money Sacramento has spent on this problem, we could have bought homes for most of our homeless. What have we gotten in return? More debt and more consolidation of power at the tax payers expense with no real progress. Did I mention graft and corruption? Yes, we have a lot of that and it MUST be investigated!
California’s open door and “free handout" policies have attracted homeless from around the country and from other countries across the globe! This is ABSOLUTELY an unsustainable situation.
There’s much more to this issue than what is evident at first glance and I WILL address it.
