Why are you seeking a seat on the Board of Supervisors?

We need experienced leadership in this time of uncertainty for our county and our nation. I’m running because our community deserves a Supervisor who is both a listener and a doer. My background in healthcare and public education has taught me how to manage complex systems and find common ground in difficult times. I’m here to represent your voice and drive the results Novato and neighboring communities in District 5 need.

What do you think are the top three issues for voters in this election, and how do you plan to address them?

I think voters are understandably concerned about how the chaos at the national level impacts our community, especially in regards to the health care we deliver for our community and the threats posed on immigrants in our community. I bring lived experience in both respects.

Significant federal budget cuts have already reached Marin County, and we need a Supervisor with experience managing public budgets, someone who will practice sound fiscal management while securing investments in vital services. I am that candidate.

Voters in District 5 are also really concerned about infrastructure challenges and broader concerns around affordability, issues I will be laser focused on as a Supervisor.

Why are you a better choice than your opponents?

Combined with 14 years of healthcare experience at UCSF and MarinHealth, and my current role as Novato Unified School District President, overseeing one of the largest public budgets and public employers in the county, I bring a hands-on understanding of the systems that need fixing. I offer the community a leader who has the heart of an advocate and the discipline of a responsible steward of public resources.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

My evidence is rooted in 14 years of professional healthcare experience at UCSF Health and MarinHealth, where I’ve managed complex systems and patient advocacy. My passion has been making sure families can access the health care they need and deserve. Beyond clinical expertise, I have proven my ability to lead public institutions as President of the Novato Unified School District, where I help oversee multi-million dollar budgets and oversee policy. Combined with my work as a Delegate for the California Democratic Party, I have the unique blend of local governance and state-level advocacy required for this seat.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? N/A

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

I currently serve as President of the Novato Unified School District Board, where I have served since 2022.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know?

I’m proud to be the only candidate endorsed by the Marin County Democratic Party, our longstanding Supervisor Judy Arnold, and a majority of the existing Board of Supervisors.

What is one specific change you would support to improve public safety in your district?

I would prioritize wildfire risk reduction by continuing to invest in vegetation management, defensible space, and home hardening in partnership with the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority. I would ensure County resources are deployed where they have the greatest impact. In Novato, proactive prevention is my top public safety priority, and I am committed to using data-driven strategies to keep our community safe.

What specific actions should the Board of Supervisors take to address homelessness, and how would you evaluate whether current efforts are working?

We need to continue expanding a housing first approach, paired with supportive services. That means increasing the supply of permanent supportive housing, interim housing, and shelter options so people can move off the streets and into stable environments.

As a County, we also need to invest in prevention. That includes rental assistance, eviction prevention, and behavioral health services to stop people from becoming homeless in the first place. Prevention is often more cost effective and more humane.

We also have to address the complexity of homelessness by expanding mental health and substance use services, and improving coordination between healthcare providers, the County, and community based organizations. It is important that we continue to partner with organizations like Ritter Center and Homeward Bound of Marin.

Lastly, we need accountability and outcomes. We should track what is working, scale effective programs, and ensure public funds are being used efficiently.
