Mercedes Driver Rear-Ends Taxi, Takes Off

The following information from Feb. 4-5 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

9:55 p.m., Feb. 5 – A hit-and-run occurred at Lamont Avenue and Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party was in a cab when he was struck from behind by a green Mercedes. The Mercedes sustained front-end damage and its license plate number was obtained as the driver of the Mercedes stopped and tried to make a deal with the cab driver but then fled.  The Mercedes was last seen heading north on Redwood Boulevard.

11:28 a.m. – A man was reportedly punched in the face by his girlfriend’s 26-year-old brother on the 900 block of Seventh Street.

1:42 p.m. – A green bicycle was turned into the police.  It had been left unattended at the entrance to a building on the 500 block of Hangar Avenue for three days.

4:02 p.m. – A wallet was found near the street on Sun Lane near Sutro Avenue and turned into police.

6:35 p.m. – A deer was struck by a car on San Marin Drive near Simmons Lane and was in lanes of traffic.  An officer responded and removed the dead deer from the roadway.

7:34 p.m. – A red Volvo and blue older model Ford Bronco collided in the 200 block Ignacio Boulevard. The Ford driver fled the scene northbound on Highway 101.

8:56 p.m. – A locked 2005 Honda Civic on the 500 block of Loleta Lane was broken into over the weekend and a purse was stolen.  It was discovered with its trunk open. 

Feb. 5

9:11 a.m. – Lighting fixtures were reported vandalized at 390 Hangar Drive, causing about $700 in damage. Click here for a full story on this incident.

9:40 a.m. – A burglary at the Rancho Elementary School on Johnson Street was reported to have occurred the previous day between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. A Dell Latitude laptop and a projector were stolen from a classroom with an estimated loss of $1,785.

10:17 a.m. – An attempted burglary was reported to have taken place overnight at the Bridgecreek apartments at 1599 S. Novato Boulevard. The window frame to the manager’s office was broken and a screen damaged as well as parallel marks on the front door.  The break-in was unsuccessful.

11 a.m. – Two roommates were fighting in the 600 block of Bolling Circle over the cable bill and a tablet given as collateral.  Both suffered contusions and scratches.  A case was taken for battery on both individuals.

6:53 p.m. – A person was jumped by two male juveniles on the 800 block of Redwood Boulevard, and the victim’s backpack was taken by force.
